One of the nice things about writing for the Seybold Reports is that their content is not closely bounded. They cover virtually anything related to computers and publishing (the latter in its broadest sense as the dissemination of information; marks on paper aren't required). So when Leverage Technologies approached us about taking a look at Cindex, we were eager to do so, even though I'll bet that few of our subscribers have ever created an index. Since I had already indexed two years' worth of Seybold Reports (by hand using a word processor), I was given the honor of testing Cindex and of poking my head gingerly into the unfamiliar world of professional indexers. > Now I realize there's some overlap between "indexers," "computer people," > and "publishing people," and in fact, my own job is a case in point that > such dividing lines are often blurred. Screen shots that looked OK as TIFF files turned out muddy and semi-legible on paper. Would any of you be interested in my posting the article here? I honestly don't know how the Seybold editors would feel about that, but if there's enough interest, I'll ask them. Drop me an e-mail if you'd like to see it.
